Tisza Party Criticized for Backing EU Migration Pact, Penalizing Hungary**

Budapest: Hungarian MEPs from the Fidesz-KDNP party have criticized the Tisza Party for supporting a European Union migration pact that they say undermines Hungary’s national interests. At the heart of the dispute is the 2025 EU budget vote, where Tisza MEPs favored swift implementation of the controversial migration policy, which Hungarian officials argue promotes illegal immigration and weakens national border security.

According to About Hungary, the Tisza Party’s actions included backing a HUF 10 billion increase in EU funding for migrant aid and opposing a proposal to allocate £2 billion to Hungary for maintaining its southern border fence. Additionally, Tisza MEPs supported a decision by the European Parliament to uphold a £200 million fine against Hungary, imposed by the European Court of Justice, for its refusal to admit illegal migrants.

Tamás Deutsch, an MEP from the Fidesz-KDNP party, accused the Tisza Party of undermining Hungary’s security by aligning with Brussels’ “flawed migration agenda” an
d criticized them for penalizing Hungary’s efforts to protect its borders. Csaba Dömötör, another Fidesz-KDNP MEP, shared similar concerns, highlighting the Tisza Party’s history of supporting initiatives that conflict with Hungary’s interests, leading to increased migration and reduced financial support for the country.

Dömötör further argued that the Tisza Party’s allegiance to the European People’s Party (EPP) results in prioritizing Brussels’ agenda over national interests. In contrast, Deutsch commended the Patriots for Europe group for their consistent defense of Hungary in the European Parliament, advocating for the release of EU development funds to Hungary and opposing exclusionary decisions affecting Hungarian institutions.

Deutsch concluded by reaffirming Fidesz-KDNP’s dedication to safeguarding Hungary’s sovereignty and pledged to resist any attempts by Brussels or the Tisza Party to implement migration policies that could harm the nation.
