Hungary Pledges Support for Stability in the Middle East at International Conference


Paris: Hungary is actively working towards stability and peace in the Middle East, according to Tristan Azbej, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade responsible for programs aiding persecuted Christians. Azbej made this announcement in a Facebook post, where he highlighted Hungary’s contributions and efforts in the region.

According to KDNP, Azbej referred to a high-level international conference organized by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict in Lebanon. The meeting, which included prominent figures such as French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and Lebanese Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Azmi Mikati, brought together numerous foreign ministers and international officials to deliberate on possible solutions.

Azbej stated that Hungary is committed to preventing further regional escalation and stressed the importance of supporting Lebanese authorities. He noted the need for facilitating the safe
return of Syrian refugees to alleviate long-standing tensions in the region. Additionally, Azbej highlighted the significance of ensuring the safety of civilians and the return of internally displaced persons. He also called for efforts to secure the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

The state secretary announced that Hungary has recently donated $124,000 to assist Lebanese civilians affected by the conflict. This aid is being distributed through Christian organizations, with plans for further humanitarian initiatives in the near future.
