Puglia Region Reports Israeli Government for Flotilla Incident

Puglia: The southern Italian Puglia region on Tuesday reported the Israeli government over the arrest of Italian and Puglian citizens on board the Global Sumud Flotilla which Tel Aviv stopped from reaching Gaza with aid last week.

According to Ansa News Agency, Puglia Governor Michele Emiliano issued a statement denouncing the Israeli government for the actions involving Italian and Puglian citizens who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla peacekeeping mission. The regional government highlighted concerns over what it described as the kidnapping and arrest of its citizens.

The statement from Governor Emiliano condemned the alleged violence aboard Italian vessels and the treatment of citizens who were detained and taken to Israeli prisons. Additionally, Emiliano criticized the seizure and subsequent sinking of the vessels, citing these actions as serious crimes that violate fundamental values and principles outlined in the Statute of the Region. The Flotilla had been intercepted in international waters while attempting to break an Israeli naval blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Members of the Flotilla were subsequently taken to an Israeli jail and later expelled from Israel.
