Campiti Gets Life for Fidene Massacre

Rome: Claudio Campiti, a 57-year-old unemployed neo-Nazi sympathiser, was sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of four women during a condominium meeting in the northeastern Roman Fidene district in December 2022. The verdict was delivered on Wednesday, confirming Campiti’s guilt in the tragic incident.

According to Ansa News Agency, Campiti was convicted of the premeditated murder of Nicoletta Golisano, Elisabetta Silenzi, Sabina Sperandio, and Fabiana De Angelis. The attack, which shocked the local community, also involved an attempt to kill an additional five women. Among the victims, Nicoletta Golisano was noted to be a friend of Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, adding a significant layer of attention to the case.

Campiti executed the attack using a handgun, which he unlawfully acquired from a shooting range. The court’s decision to impose a life sentence underscores the severity of the crime and the impact it had on the victims’ families and the broader community.
