Migrants Protest at Italian Repatriation Centre in Albania, Causing Damage

Tirana: A group of approximately 40 migrants held at an Italian holding and repatriation centre (CPR) in Gjader, Albania, have engaged in protests over recent days, leading to some damage to the facility, according to Viminale, the Italian interior ministry.

According to Ansa News Agency, the protests resulted in minor damage, described as “some broken glass.” However, the situation did not escalate into a full revolt, and authorities report that circumstances have since returned to normal.

The same sources clarified that a prison facility established on the site has not yet been opened and is not currently accommodating any individuals.
