Banks Can Be Asked For Help Again This Year Says Meloni

Rome: Banks can be asked for a helping hand with the 2026 budget bill again this year, Premier Giorgia Meloni said Tuesday. “We already did it last year. I have no intention of punishing the banking system, which is an asset to the nation.”

According to Ansa News Agency, Premier Meloni’s remarks suggest that the government might once again seek assistance from banks to manage the financial aspects of the 2026 budget. This approach follows a similar strategy employed in the previous year and reflects the government’s recognition of the banking system’s role as a national asset.
