ADI Exhibition Showcases Italian Design at Italy Pavilion

Osaka: An exhibition organized by the Association for Industrial Design (ADI) has been inaugurated in the entrance hall of the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. The exhibition, titled ‘Italian Design: Innovation,’ features unique pieces, including the Blu Ponti majolica collection by Gio Ponti and the Marco vase by Sergio Asti, showcasing Italian craftsmanship with forward-thinking designs.

According to Ansa News Agency, the exhibition displays works such as Anima, a lamp by Davide Groppi, Nuovo Milano cutlery by Ettore Sottsass, and the Anna G. corkscrew by Alessandro Mendini. Also featured are Alvaro Siza’s Farfallina chair, Thierry tables by Piero Lissoni, and the 646 Lettera Outdoor chair. These pieces highlight Italian design’s capacity to integrate technological innovation in everyday life, with items like the Mindtooth Touch device, Vimar’s Linea smart devices, and the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer G15 glasses.

The exhibition also includes the Isy22 tap collection by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, Enel X’s Juicebox charging station, and several products awarded the Golden Compass design prize. Another section pays tribute to Italian design’s role in sports, featuring items like the Fisi EA7 Emporio Armani jerseys, the R001 Sofia Goggia helmet, and the Dobermann 5 boots by Nordica.

Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, emphasized the display’s focus on both renowned designs and novelties, highlighting Italy’s excellence in invention and creativity. Andrea Cancellato, director of the ADI Design Museum Golden Compass, noted that design is a core component of Italy’s global reputation, playing a crucial role in everyday life.
