Young Man Confesses to Killing 14-Year-Old Ex-Girlfriend

Afragola: A young man has confessed to killing his 14-year-old ex-girlfriend, Martina Carbonaro, sources said on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, Carbonaro was reported missing on Monday afternoon, and her body was discovered early on Wednesday in a wardrobe inside an abandoned building in the province of Naples town of Afragola. The girl was brutally murdered, possibly with a rock, as stated by the sources.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been revealed, confessed after being detained in connection with the homicide. The involvement of ordinary prosecutors in the case, instead of prosecutors for minors, indicates that the suspect is at least 18 years old.

Italy has been grappling with an alarming spate of femicides and distressing instances of gender-based violence, highlighting a pressing societal issue.
