Woman Fatally Mauled by Dog Near Trapani in Sicily

Petrosino: A 62-year-old Italian woman, Erina Licari, succumbed to her injuries after a dog attack near Trapani in Sicily on Friday night, local sources reported on Saturday. The tragic incident unfolded in front of Licari’s home, situated near the municipal stadium between via Trapani and viale Mediterraneo.

According to Ansa News Agency, Licari was attacked while she was walking her small dog. The severe injuries inflicted by the dog’s bites proved fatal, and despite the efforts of rescuers, her death was confirmed at the scene. Authorities are investigating to determine whether the dog involved was a stray or belonged to someone but was left unattended.

The police, under the coordination of the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office, are examining the possibility that more than one animal was involved in the attack. The investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragic event and ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
