Pope Extremely Happy at Discharge, Never Lost Sense of Humor

Rome: Pope Francis was extremely happy to get the news that he is to be discharged after a bout of pneumonia from a Rome hospital back to the Vatican Sunday, and he has never lost his sense of humor, his doctors told reporters Saturday. “He was very happy, he had been asking us for three or four days when he could go home,” the doctors treating the 88-year-old Argentine pontiff at Gemelli Hospital described his reaction today to the announcement that he will be released from the hospital tomorrow.

According to Ansa News Agency, Prof. Sergio Alfieri observed that during the period of treatment, especially when the Pope was in more pain, his reactions were less pronounced. However, his humor returned as his condition improved. Prof. Alfieri shared that during a check-up, when they listened to his chest and asked him about his condition, Pope Francis humorously replied, “I’m still alive,” signaling that he had regained his good mood.
