Woman Dies After Liposuction in Unauthorised Rome Clinic
Rome: A 47-year-old Ecuadorian woman has died in a Rome hospital after suffering complications from a liposuction operation performed at an unauthorised private clinic in the Italian capital over the weekend, sources said Tuesday. The procedure, conducted on Sunday afternoon, was halted due to a complication, prompting an emergency transfer of the woman to Policlinico Umberto I Hospital, where medical staff were unable to revive her.
According to Ansa News Agency,Rome prosecutors have initiated an investigation, placing three individuals under scrutiny for negligent manslaughter and culpable homicide. Those under investigation include a doctor, an anaesthetist, and a nurse. The clinic, located on the outskirts of Rome, has reportedly been operating without the necessary authorisation for 13 years and has now been impounded by authorities. The incident raises concerns about the regulation and oversight of medical practices in unauthorized facilities.
