Rome: Flavio Cobolli expressed his lifelong dream of playing at Wimbledon after defeating Marin Cilic to reach the quarterfinals for the first time.

According to Ansa News Agency, Cobolli shared his excitement and disbelief at this achievement. He noted, “I’ve always dreamed of being here to play this tournament. I never imagined reaching the quarterfinals. I started playing tennis for this type of match and for this type of tournament,” after his victory over the Croatian player and 2014 US Open winner in four sets.

Cobolli’s family, including his emotional father and brother, were present to witness his memorable victory, along with friends. The moment was further highlighted by Cobolli’s anticipation of playing on the center court in the quarterfinals, acknowledging his hard-earned success. He also paid tribute to Marin Cilic, acknowledging the opponent’s skill and expressing his intention to rest ahead of the next match.

Among the spectators was Edoardo Bove, a friend of Cobolli and a midfielder for AS Roma, who previously played for Fiorentina. Bove attended the match to support Cobolli, and the two shared a heartfelt embrace after the match concluded.
