Vatican Urges China to Facilitate Peace in Ukraine
Vatican city: Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin on Tuesday echoed US President Donald Trump’s call for China to use its leverage with its ally Russia to bring an end to the war in Ukraine. “I think it will take the great involvement of the whole international community to make it possible to take some steps toward peace,” Parolin told reporters as he visited the branch of the Vatican’s Bambino Ges¹ children’s hospital in Rome’s San Paolo district when asked about how to achieve a ceasefire on Ukraine.
According to Ansa News Agency, Parolin emphasized the potential role China could play in the peace process. He stated, “And I also think China has a word to say on this.” Parolin’s comments come at a time when President Trump is currently in China and the Far East, partly to address this issue.
