Admiral Berutti Bergotto Appointed as Chief of Navy General Staff
Rome: Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto has been officially appointed as the Chief of the Navy General Staff, following a proposal by Defence Minister Guido Crosetto. The decision was made after consultation with the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Luciano Portolano, and received approval from the cabinet. Admiral Bergotto takes over the role from Admiral Enrico Credendino.
According to Ansa News Agency, Defence Minister Crosetto extended his congratulations to Admiral Bergotto, expressing his wishes for success in his new role. Crosetto acknowledged Bergotto’s standing as a man of the institutions and highlighted his competence and vision in guiding the Italian Navy. He commended Bergotto’s dedication to navigating the Navy toward new challenges while ensuring the country’s security. The Defence Minister also expressed gratitude to Admiral Credendino for his service to the Navy and the nation.
