Vatican Daily Highlights Peaceful Impact of Pro-Gaza Marches Across Italy

Vatican city: Vatican daily L’Osservatore Romano has emphasized the importance of the pro-Gaza marches and strikes that took place across Italy, cautioning against letting isolated incidents of violence overshadow their broader significance.

According to Ansa News Agency, L’Osservatore Romano published an editorial on Tuesday addressing the violence that occurred during the demonstrations, where 60 police officers were injured in Milan. The editorial argued that such incidents should not detract from the overall peaceful nature of the protests. “All sorts of analyses will be poured into yesterday’s demonstrations, but I believe we shouldn’t give in to the violence that disrupted the peaceful demonstrations of so many,” stated the front-page leader.

The editorial, titled “Why it’s wrong to focus only on episodes of violence,” insisted that focusing solely on these violent episodes would undermine the extensive mobilization efforts that spanned the entire country. It warned that doing so would benefit those who wish to ignore the numerous peaceful initiatives that encouraged many to express their views. The publication stressed the importance of recognizing the collective voice of the demonstrators rather than reducing the events to isolated acts of violence.
