Vatican Blasts Settler Violence on West Bank Christians

Vatican city: Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin spoke out on Tuesday against violence by Israeli settlers on Christians living in the West Bank. “The problem is very complex,” Parolin told reporters when asked whether Christians in the West Bank were being persecuted.

According to Ansa News Agency, Parolin expressed confusion over the targeting of Christians who are living their normal lives. He stated, “We cannot understand why Christians who are living their normal lives are the object of so much fury.”

Parolin further commented on the difficulty of labeling the situation as persecution but emphasized that these circumstances are unacceptable. “It is a little problematic to speak of persecution, but these are situations that we certainly cannot accept,” he added.
