US Poised to Boost Middle East Peace Efforts, Says Meloni

Rome: The United States is set to give a “decisive impulse” for peace efforts in the Middle East, Premier Giorgia Meloni announced following an Italo-Greek intergovernmental summit in Rome. Speaking alongside Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Meloni emphasized the importance of US involvement in fostering peace and security in the region.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni highlighted the ongoing efforts to end hostilities and ensure humanitarian aid access to Gaza. She underscored the significance of Arab countries’ work in establishing a regional framework for peace and security, which should include the prospect of a two-state solution.

Meloni also noted the importance of former President Trump’s upcoming mission to the region, expressing optimism that the United States’ involvement could provide a crucial boost to peace initiatives. Her remarks came during a joint press conference with Mitsotakis, underscoring the collaborative approach Italy and Greece are taking toward Middle Eastern peace efforts.
