Two Newborns Die in Bolzano Hospital Due to Suspected Bacterial Infection

Bolzano: Two premature babies died within a few hours at Bolzano hospital, the Rai Sudtirol website reports. One of the newborns died on Tuesday, while the other passed away on Wednesday night. Both infants were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital in the South Tyrolean capital.

According to Ansa News Agency, the cause of the two deaths is believed to be a bacterial infection. In response to the incident, the hospital is considering transferring other infant patients to another ward to prevent further contact with the bacteria.
