Tunisian Director Highlights Gaza’s Plight with Heart-Wrenching Film

Venice: Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania described the film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” as “the voice of Gaza calling for help” after its screening at the Venice Film Festival. The film tells the tragic story of a five-year-old Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab, whose plea for help after an Israeli attack went unheard, resulting in her death.

According to Ansa News Agency, the film, released by I Wonder Pictures, recounts the events of January 29, 2024, when Hind made a desperate emergency call while trapped in a vehicle with her family in Gaza. The Red Crescent volunteers on the other end of the line tried to reassure her and dispatch an ambulance, but both the ambulance and Hind were tragically hit, leading to her death.

The film aims to remind audiences of the often-overlooked struggles in Gaza and to amplify voices that are frequently silenced. Hind’s story is a poignant reminder of the human cost of conflict and the urgent need for humanitarian action.
