No Deliberate Firing at UNIFIL Say IDF
Tel aviv: There was no deliberate firing at Italian UNIFIL peacekeepers in Lebanon by Israeli troops Tuesday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said after the UNIFIL mission said IDF drones dropped four grenades close to its peacekeepers while they were working to clear roadblocks, according to The Times of Israel Wednesday.
According to Ansa News Agency, the IDF stated that its forces were responding to a “suspicious presence” in the area, as reported by the Israeli newspaper. The IDF conducted an investigation and subsequently held a discussion through military communications channels to clarify the incident.
The IDF emphasized that “no deliberate firing was done at UNIFIL personnel,” and reiterated that “the safety of civilians and Israeli forces remains a top priority.” This statement aims to address concerns and ensure transparency regarding the incident involving UNIFIL peacekeepers.
