Tristan Azbej: Hungary also serves the interests of Europe by supporting the preservation of stability in Chad

Among other things, the help that Hungary provides in Chad in order to preserve the stability of the Central African country also serves to reduce the number of migrants heading to Europe – the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (KKM) responsible for programs to help persecuted Christians, the vice president of the KDNP, announced on the current channel M1 on his Friday morning show.

According to him, all of this is important because – unless local help is available – tens of millions of migrants could leave for Europe in the coming years, which would have unforeseeable consequences for our continent.

He highlighted:

in this regard, Chad’s role is outstanding in Central Africa, since one third of the population in the country needs humanitarian assistance, yet it is the fifth largest refugee-receiving state in the world, in which there is a great need to preserve the stability of the local government.”

The efforts of the Chadian people and authorities that serve this need to be
supported, therefore, along the lines of the Hungary Helps program, our country offers help for acute humanitarian crisis situations – for example, to deal with the consequences of industrial or natural disasters – and also supports the country with specialists, medical, engineering and agricultural expertise – explained the details.

The Hungary Helps program is “a program of the sensitive heart, but also of common sense,” he said, adding: Hungary helps maintain Chad’s stability out of Christian solidarity, general human compassion, and also as part of “the sense of responsibility towards the European continent.”

Azbej Tristan reminded: the Sahel region is already a region that emits migration, moreover, 75 percent of the world’s refugees and migrants reside in the region, so what happens today in the Sahel region determines the future not only of Africa, but also of Europe.

The state secretary also touched on the fact that extreme Islamist terrorism has reared its head in many places in the region. Countries such as Chad are also in danger, so the Hungarian government supports the efforts of the local government aimed at curbing this, he underlined.

The guest of the program was László Eduárd Máthé , the ministerial commissioner responsible for the foreign policy coordination of the Hungarian all-government activities in the sub-Saharan region, who spoke about how the people living in the region, the Chadians, look at the help of the Hungarians differently than the Western European states that used to hold colonies. The locals positively evaluate the fact that Hungary does not intervene in domestic political processes, does not express opinions in discussions of different values, he pointed out.

It
is also thanks to all of this that, in addition to humanitarian aid, Hungary provides a wide range of support in Chad, so our country provides assistance in the African country, from job creation to education and agriculture to training. The reception of all of this is particularly positive on the part of the partners, the government and other organizations, he emphasized.
