Tajani Blasts ‘Shameful Resurgence of Anti-Semitism’
Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani expressed his concern on Wednesday about the rise in anti-Semitism in Italy following the conflict escalation between Israel and Hamas in Gaza after the October 7 attacks.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani addressed the Lower House regarding the situation in Gaza, emphasizing his alarm over the increasing anti-Semitic incidents. He highlighted a specific incident in Milan where a shop displayed a sign in Hebrew stating ‘Israelis not welcome,’ which he condemned as more than just a mere news item.
Tajani also mentioned the troubling case of Life Senator and Holocaust survivor Liliana Segre, who has been subjected to severe anti-Semitic insults. He expressed his solidarity with Segre, emphasizing that the actions of the Israeli government should not be attributed to Jews as a whole.
He reinforced the message of ‘Never again,’ asserting that no individual should live in fear due to their Jewish identity.
