Stellantis Cuts 9,600 Jobs in Italy Over Four Years: FIOM Report

Rome: Stellantis has reduced its workforce in Italy significantly over the past four years, with a loss of 9,656 jobs, according to a study released by the FIOM-CGIL trade union. The number of employees in Italy has decreased from 37,288 in 2020 to 27,632 in 2024.

According to Ansa News Agency, the report titled ‘The Great Flight from Italy’ highlights a substantial drop in car production by the Italian-French-American group in Italy, with a decline of 515,944 vehicles produced annually between 2004 and 2024. Michele De Palma, FIOM-CGIL Secretary General, described these figures as indicative of failure.

The findings underscore the challenges faced by Stellantis in maintaining its Italian operations amid shifting industry dynamics and production strategies. The report sheds light on the broader impacts on employment and production within the country’s automotive sector.
