Budapest: Zsófia Koncz, the state secretary for family affairs, announced that tax allowances for families raising children are set to double, following parliament’s approval of new tax changes in a vote on Tuesday.
According to About Hungary, Koncz highlighted that the political left did not support the measure, choosing not to vote in favor of the proposed increase in tax allowances for families with children. In her reaction on social media, Koncz emphasized the significance of this legislation for supporting Hungarian families.
The newly approved legislation stipulates that starting July 1 next year, families with one child will see their tax allowance increase to 15,000 forints (EUR 37), those with two children will receive 30,000 forints, and families with three or more children will benefit from an allowance of 49,500 forints.
Further increases are planned for January 1, 2026, when allowances are set to rise to 20,000 forints per child, 40,000 for two children, and 66,000 for families with three o
r more children. These changes are part of an ongoing effort to provide more robust financial support to families raising children in Hungary.
