Budapest: Hungary and Slovakia have embarked on a significant collaborative effort aimed at enhancing water treatment processes, as announced by the Danube Regional Waterworks (DMRV) on Tuesday. The initiative, valued at EUR 1.9 million, is receiving substantial backing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which is contributing EUR 1.5 million to the project.
According to About Hungary, the ambitious project is spearheaded by the HUN-REN Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences. It involves the participation of DMRV and the Slovakian municipality of Vinica. The primary objective is to boost the efficiency of municipal wastewater treatment through the implementation of technology-intensive interventions. Launched in June, the project is set to continue until November 2026, promising significant advancements in the water treatment capabilities of the region.
