Soccer: Modric Leaves Real for AC Milan
Madrid: Croatia great Luka Modric on Thursday officially left Real Madrid after 14 years with the 15-time European champions and moved to seven-time European champions AC Milan. This transition came a day after Real Madrid crashed out of the Club World Cup, losing 4-0 to PSG in the semi-finals.
According to Ansa News Agency, the 30-year-old 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, who amassed 28 major trophies at Madrid-including six UEFA Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, and two Copa del Rey titles-has become the most decorated footballer in the club’s history. Modric is set to join AC Milan, popularly known as the Rossoneri, on their upcoming Asia-Pacific tour, provided he successfully passes a medical examination.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the 2018 World Cup finalist and Golden Ball winner has already signed a one-year contract with AC Milan, although the terms of the agreement remain undisclosed.
