Ciro Immobile Returns to Italy, Signs with Bologna

Bologna: Former Italy and Lazio centre forward Ciro Immobile has made a return to Italy after a stint in Turkey with Besiktas. The veteran striker has signed a one-year contract with Bologna, with an option to extend for a second year.

According to Ansa News Agency, Immobile, who is 35 years old, previously equalled Gonzalo Higuain’s record for most goals in a Serie A season with 35 goals in 2020 while playing for Napoli. During his time at Besiktas, he scored 19 goals in 41 matches. Immobile holds the record as Lazio’s all-time top scorer with 207 goals and has earned 57 caps for the Italian national team, with his last appearance in 2023.

Bologna, which finished ninth in Serie A last season, has qualified for the Europa League after winning the Italian Cup, securing their first major trophy in 51 years. Immobile’s career also includes stints at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla between 2014 and 2016, after beginning his professional journey with Juventus.
