Soccer: Calhanoglu Says He’s Staying at Inter

Milan: Inter’s Turkey midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu on Thursday ended speculation about a possible move following a bust-up with the club and captain Lautaro Martinez, saying he is staying put. “I am staying at Inter, I am happy to stay,” the 31-year-old said.

According to Ansa News Agency, when asked about his relationship with Martinez, Calhanoglu replied: “It’s okay, we have already talked and there is no problem.” After Inter were knocked out of the Club World Cup in the last 16 by Brazilian side Fluminense, Martinez had commented that anyone who does not want to be at the club should leave.

While Martinez did not name names, Inter Chairman Giuseppe Marotta subsequently said he was referring to Calhanoglu, who had been linked to a move to Galatasaray.
