Sinner Undecided on Davis Cup Participation Amid Praise from Djokovic

Riyadh: Jannik Sinner announced on Wednesday night that he has not yet made a decision regarding his participation in the Davis Cup 2025 Final 8, scheduled to take place in Bologna from November 18 to 23. The four-time Grand Slam champion and current world number two discussed his uncertainty following a victory over Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, during an interview with Sky Sports.

According to Ansa News Agency, Sinner received indirect praise from Novak Djokovic, the record 24-time Grand Slam winner from Serbia, who he is set to face in the semi-final on Thursday night. Djokovic, after completing a training session in Riyadh, expressed his admiration for Sinner in a video shared by the tournament organizers. He remarked on the similarities between himself and the Italian player, highlighting Sinner’s powerful ball-striking, agile movement on the court, and strategic gameplay.

Djokovic elaborated on his observation by saying, “Hitting the ball as hard as possible, moving everywhere on the court with that skinny body like mine,” and praised Sinner for managing the strategic aspect of the game perfectly, aspiring to be a versatile player. Djokovic concluded by noting how Sinner’s playing style evokes memories of his own peak performance periods.
