Sinner Not to Attend Quirinale Palace Ceremony on Wednesday

Rome: Jannik Sinner will not be attending a ceremony at the presidential Quirinale Palace in Rome on Wednesday. The event, which will be attended by members of the Italian Tennis Federation, is set to celebrate a successful 2024 with President Sergio Mattarella. Sources close to the player revealed this decision on Tuesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, after his Australian Open victory, Sinner had initially stated that he “still needed to decide” whether he would attend the ceremony. However, he made his decision after returning from Australia. On Monday, Sinner expressed his need for rest following his win, which marked his third Grand Slam title, making him Italy’s most successful tennis player.

Sinner, aged 23, mentioned during a photo shoot with the Australian Open trophy in Melbourne that he plans to take some time off before refocusing entirely on tennis. He emphasized that once his break is over, tennis would regain his full attention.

In his recent triumph, Sinner defeated Germany’s world number two, Alexander Zverev, in straight sets without dropping a break point. This victory allowed him to surpass Nicola Pietrangeli’s record of two Grand Slam titles and solidify his lead at the top of the ATP rankings, now 3,700 points ahead of Zverev.
