Disposable Income in Northern Italy 30% Higher Than Southern Regions

Rome: The average per-capita disposable income in southern Italy stood at 17,100 euros in 2023, marking it as the lowest in the country when compared to the Centre-North, where the figure was 25,000 euros-over 30% higher, as reported by ISTAT on Tuesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, ISTAT’s study highlighted significant territorial differences, revealing that the GDP in southern Italy saw an increase of 1.5% in 2023. This growth outpaced other regions, with the North-West experiencing a 0.7% rise, the North-East at 0.4%, and the Centre at 0.3%, against a national average growth of 0.7%.

Furthermore, the study detailed that northeastern Italy boasted the highest pro-capita GDP, reaching 44,700 euros in nominal terms, which contrasted sharply with the South’s 24,000 euros.
