Saturday’s Sporting Events Postponed for Pope’s Funeral

Rome: Civil Protection Minister Nello Musumeci said Tuesday that the sporting events scheduled to take place in Italy on Saturday, including three Serie A soccer games, will be postponed because Pope Francis’s funeral is taking place on that day.

According to Ansa News Agency, the matches affected by this decision are Como-Genoa, Inter-Roma, and Lazio-Parma. This move is made to honor the day of mourning and respect the significance of the funeral proceedings.

Additionally, four Serie A games initially planned for Monday-Cagliari-Fiorentina, Genoa-Lazio, Parma-Juventus, and Torino-Udinese-have been rescheduled to Wednesday following the pope’s passing, as confirmed by the authorities.
