Pope Francis Passes Away at 88
Vatican City: Pope Francis is dead at the age of 88, the Vatican announced Monday. The Argentine pontiff, who ascended to the papacy in March 2013, had recently endured a 38-day hospital stay battling pneumonia. Despite his involvement in Easter rites, which had sparked hopes of recovery, he had not delivered any speeches during this period.
According to Ansa News Agency, Cardinal Kevin Farrell expressed sorrow over the passing of Pope Francis. In his announcement, Cardinal Farrell stated, “Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father.”
