Romanian Security Guard Confesses to Killing Two Sex Workers

Montecatini Terme: A 32-year-old man has confessed to murdering two sex workers, with the first incident occurring in August of last year and another this week.

According to Ansa News Agency, the first victim disappeared from Montecatini Terme, a spa town in northern Tuscany, on August 1 of the previous year. The recent victim, identified as Maria Denisa Adas Paun, was a 30-year-old Romanian sex worker. Her decapitated body was discovered on Wednesday near an abandoned farmhouse in the Tuscan province of Pistoia.

The suspect, a Romanian security guard, admitted to strangling Paun in a residence in Prato. He then decapitated her and placed her head in a rubbish bag, subsequently packing it into a suitcase with the rest of her body, which he transported in the boot of his car. The man claimed he killed her because she was blackmailing him, threatening to reveal to his wife that he was paying her for sex unless he paid her 10,000 euros.

Italy continues to grapple with a series of shocking femicides, highlighting a troubling trend in the country.
