Rome: Some 286 people have died in work-related accidents in the first four months of 2025, workplace accident insurance agency INAIL said Thursday.

According to Ansa News Agency, 207 of these fatalities occurred on the job, marking a slight increase of 1.5% compared to the 204 deaths reported during the same period last year. Additionally, 79 individuals lost their lives on their way to work, which is 18 more than last year, reflecting a significant rise of 29.5%.

This alarming increase in work-related fatalities has prompted the government to take action in addressing workplace safety and commuting hazards.
