Romanian Man Confesses to Killing Two Sex Workers in Tuscany

Tuscany: A 32-year-old Romanian man has confessed to the murder of two Romanian sex workers, one of whom disappeared last August, while the second’s decapitated body was discovered this week. Both incidents occurred in the spa town of Montecatini Terme, located in northern Tuscany.

According to Ansa News Agency, the suspect, identified as Vasile Frumuzache, admitted to killing the first victim after she allegedly refused to provide sex work. The murder, which took place on August 1 of the previous year, involved the suspect stabbing the woman to death. The details surrounding her disappearance had remained unresolved until Frumuzache’s recent confession.

The second victim, 30-year-old Maria Denisa Adas Paun, was found near an abandoned farmhouse in the Tuscan province of Pistoia. Frumuzache, who worked as a security guard, confessed to strangling Paun in a residence in Prato. He then decapitated her body, placing the head in a rubbish bag and subsequently into a suitcase with the rest of her body, which he transported in the boot of his car. The suspect claimed that the motive for this murder was blackmail; Paun had allegedly threatened to reveal his engagement in paid sex to his wife unless he paid her 10,000 euros.

This confession comes amidst a troubling series of femicides that have shocked Italy, raising concerns about the safety and vulnerability of women, particularly those involved in sex work.
