Forza Italia Senator Criticizes Release of Capaci Massacre Killer Giovanni Brusca

Rome: Imagining Capaci Massacre killer Giovanni Brusca having a future arouses indignation, Forza Italia Senator and member of the anti-mafia commission Maurizio Gasparri said after the boss who pushed the button on anti-Mafia prosecutor Giovanni Falcone was completely freed Thursday.

According to Ansa News Agency, Gasparri expressed concern over the release of Brusca, labeling him as one of the most notorious figures in the history of Cosa Nostra terrorism. Despite Brusca’s release being a result of his cooperation with authorities, Gasparri called for a deeper investigation into the regulations that allowed it.

Gasparri acknowledged Brusca’s role as an informant but highlighted the contradictions in the Italian justice system. He mentioned the irony of individuals who served the state being scrutinized for years, while Brusca benefited from certain legal provisions.

The senator emphasized the significance of collaborations and dissociations in combating political terrorism and organized crime over the decades. However, he underscored the indignation caused by the thought of Brusca having a future while his victims do not.

Gasparri concluded by stating that the ultimate judgment for Brusca will come from a higher power, hoping it would be severe.
