Rome: Mobile barriers and controlled checkpoints will be set up in the Piazza di Spagna area for the Europa League match between Roma and Eintracht scheduled for Thursday at the Olimpico, according to a security plan developed by Rome Police Headquarters and issued Tuesday. The iconic Roman square’s famed Barcaccia fountain was vandalized in 2015 by Feyenoord ultras.

According to Ansa News Agency, the strategy launched by the Police Headquarters emphasizes a dual approach. Visiting fans will be welcomed by the city and will receive every type of assistance, ensuring a hospitable environment. However, there will be zero tolerance for any violent behavior. For several weeks, the DIGOS special security branch has been actively monitoring the names of Eintracht Frankfurt fans who have previously been involved in violent incidents during away matches in Italy.
