Elizabeth LeCompte Honored with Golden Lion at Biennale Teatro 2025
Venice: Elizabeth LeCompte, director and founder of the Wooster Group, has been awarded the prestigious Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Biennale Teatro 2025, as announced by the Venice Biennale foundation on Tuesday. This recognition highlights her influential role in the world of theatre.
According to Ansa News Agency, the Silver Lion has been awarded to Swiss actress Ursina Lardi. Lardi is recognized for her work as an interpreter and author of theatre with a strong political commitment.
The awards were decided by the Board of Directors of the Venice Biennale, based on a proposal by Willem Dafoe, who is the Director of the Theatre sector. The awards ceremony is set to coincide with the 53rd International Theatre Festival.
LeCompte will receive her Golden Lion on Sunday, June 1, while Lardi is scheduled to be honored on Saturday, June 14.
