Renzi Severs Ties With Mondadori Over Berlusconi’s Praise for Meloni’s Government

Rome: Former premier and leader of Italia Viva (IV), Matteo Renzi, announced on Wednesday that he is ending his collaboration with Mondadori, the publisher of his recent books. This decision follows comments made by Pier Silvio Berlusconi, the head of Mondadori and son of the late former premier Silvio Berlusconi, praising Giorgia Meloni’s rightwing government as the best in Europe.

According to Ansa News Agency, Renzi expressed a desire to “preserve my dignity and right to say that this government is not the best in Europe.” Renzi emphasized his stance by stating, “I will never accept trading my freedom for money.” Renzi’s decision marks a significant departure from his previous affiliations, as he once led the centre-left Democratic Party (PD) before establishing Italia Viva.
