Pope’s Commitment to Peace and Support for Needy Highlighted at Funeral

Vatican City: Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the dean of the College of Cardinals, emphasized Pope Francis’s dedication to peace and his advocacy for the needy during the late pontiff’s funeral on Saturday. In his homily, Re highlighted Francis’s consistent appeals to end all wars and his focus on the plight of migrants and those in need.

According to Ansa News Agency, these parts of the homily received applause from the crowds gathered in St Peter’s Square and outside the Basilica of St Mary Major. The basilica is the final resting place of Pope Francis, with a large screen installed to allow attendees to follow the service.
