Pope Francis Experiences Acute Respiratory Failure Amid Pneumonia Battle


Rome: Pope Francis had two episodes of acute respiratory failure on Monday as he battles pneumonia in a Rome hospital, the evening medical bulletin from the Vatican said. “Today, the Holy Father presented two episodes of acute respiratory failure, caused by significant accumulation of endobronchial mucus and consequent bronchospasm,” it said.



According to Ansa News Agency, two bronchoscopies were performed to address the issue, requiring the aspiration of abundant secretions.
