Brescia: Anun was among 25 people arrested on Thursday in a police operation targeting a branch of the Calabria-based ‘Ndrangheta in the province of Brescia. A number of local politicians were also arrested in the investigation into “extortion, arms and drugs trafficking, usury, tax felonies, money laundering,” and alleged exchanges of favors between organized crime and the political world.
According to Ansa News Agency, the arrested nun, who has been put under house arrest, is accused of external involvement in mafia association. She allegedly helped the mafia gang get information to and from its members in prison.
