Amazon Successfully Tests First Drone Delivery in Italy.

San Salvo: Amazon said Thursday that it successfully tested its first drone delivery in Italy on Wednesday. The online retail giant hopes to launch a drone-delivery service here next year.

According to Ansa News Agency, Amazon used a MK-30 drone to deliver an Echo Spot smart alarm to a destination near its San Salvo distribution centre in Abruzzo. The company emphasized that the drone boasts a highly automatized system, allowing it to navigate safely away from obstacles to ensure the safety of people, animals, and property.

The drone weighs approximately 36 kilos and has a round-trip range of 24km, capable of delivering packages weighing up to 2.5 kilos. Notably, around 90% of the products Amazon sells fall within this weight limit, aligning with the company’s strategic plans to expand its delivery capabilities through drone technology.
