No Genocide in Gaza Says Italian Deputy Premier.

Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated on Thursday that, despite his disagreement with Israel’s methods in its conflict with Hamas in Gaza, the actions do not constitute genocide. Tajani’s remarks come amidst heightened scrutiny and debate over the situation in Gaza.

According to Ansa News Agency, Amnesty International released a report on Thursday accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, a claim that was met with strong denial from Israel. Notably, Amnesty’s Israeli branch also expressed disagreement with the genocide allegation outlined in the report.

Tajani emphasized the importance of halting the hostilities and reaching a ceasefire, speaking at a ceremony commemorating the 120th anniversary of the completion of the Great Synagogue of Rome. “I may not agree with what the Israeli army is doing: it is time to stop, it is time to come to a ceasefire,” he remarked, while firmly stating, “But it is not genocide in Gaza.”
