The Hague: This week’s NATO summit was significant for the commitments undertaken, Premier Giorgia Meloni stated following its conclusion on Wednesday. She highlighted the pledge to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035, a demand put forth by United States President Donald Trump.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni emphasized that the commitment to the defense spending increase will not detract from the priorities of Italian citizens. She assured that no funds would be diverted from important initiatives for Italians to meet this pledge.

Meloni described the summit as crucial for the commitments made, characterizing them as both significant and sustainable. She explained that the approved measures are necessary expenses aimed at strengthening national defense and security.
