Milan Shop Displays Sign Barring Israelis

Milan: A haberdashery shop in the center of Milan has stirred controversy by displaying a sign in Hebrew that states, “Israelis and Zionists are not welcome here.” The revelation came to light through a social media post by Roberto Della Rocca, who is a member of the Israeli-Italian Chamber of Commerce.

According to Ansa News Agency, Della Rocca expressed his concerns over the sign, indicating that while a sign advocating for peace, such as one saying ‘stop war’ with imagery of rockets adorned with Israeli and Palestinian flags, might be acceptable, the current sign’s intent seemed to carry a different message. He emphasized that the use of Hebrew for the sign aimed to be discreet, which he interpreted as stemming from “bad faith of an anti-Semitic nature.”

The incident has sparked discussions about the boundaries of political expression and the implications of such signage in public spaces.
