Miklós Soltész Commends Civil Guards for Service to Nation
BUDAPEST: The State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Miklós Soltész, highlighted the invaluable service of civil guards to individuals, the community, and the nation during a commemoration event in Budapest on Saturday. The event honored the civil guards’ contributions during the 1956 uprising.
According to KDNP, Soltész credited the civil guards’ cooperation for the swift recovery from recent flooding, noting their efforts prevented significant financial losses, life-threatening situations, and fatalities. He remarked that only a few sandbags on the dams serve as a reminder of the formidable defense and collaboration achieved.
Soltész expressed gratitude for the civil guards’ responsible work in safeguarding lives and property. He also recalled their role in defending the country and Europe during the migrant crisis nine years ago. He emphasized to today’s youth the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by the heroes of 1956, who paved the way for the current freedoms and prosperity.
The
state secretary warned that failing to appreciate these sacrifices might lead to complacency in future generations. He stressed the importance of community service, citing the civil guards as exemplary in this regard.
The event also included the presentation of awards by the National Civil Guard Association.
