Meloni Criticizes ReArm Europe Plan’s Name as Misleading

Rome: Premier Giorgia Meloni addressed the Senate on Tuesday, expressing concerns over the name of the ReArm Europe plan. Meloni argued that the title is misleading for citizens because the plan focuses on enhancing defense capabilities, which involves more than just acquiring weapons.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni emphasized that strengthening defense capabilities involves producing armaments and improving operability, essential services, energy infrastructures, and provision chains. She noted that these aspects are crucial and not solely reliant on weaponry.

Meloni stated, “There is no defense without this approach,” underscoring the multifaceted nature of the plan. Her comments were made in her official communications to the Senate ahead of this week’s European Council session.
