Meloni Calls for United Vote on US Peace Plan for Palestine

Lamezia terme: Premier Giorgia Meloni expressed her hope for a united vote in the Italian parliament regarding the US peace plan for Palestine during a speech at a Calabrian regional election rally on Tuesday. Speaking in Lamezia Terme, Meloni emphasized the importance of a unified stance between the government and the opposition on this critical issue.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni stated, “On Thursday, there will be motions in the Chamber addressing the Palestinian issue: I would like Italy to vote united to demonstrate that we truly want peace.” These remarks were made during the closing of the centre-right rally supporting Roberto Occhiuto’s re-election as governor of Calabria.

Meloni criticized recent strike actions, asserting, “Peace won’t come because CGIL trade union leader Maurizio Landini calls a strike, because the USB (grass-roots union) calls a strike, because magistrates read the press releases before the hearings.” She insisted that real progress towards peace would require collaborative efforts at negotiation tables where substantial proposals could be developed.

Raising her voice for emphasis, Meloni concluded, “I would really like us to work together on this,” underscoring her desire for a cohesive approach to the peace plan discussions in parliament.
